Important Information for 7th and 8th grade students and their parents

As many of you are aware 7^th grade school performance and attendance is crucial to the high school application process.  While high school applications are not completed and due until the fall of a students 8^th grade year, acceptance to selective enrollment high schools and many others is based on grades, test scores and attendance in 7^th grade.

To learn more about the application process, high school fairs and open-houses and the crucial role 7^th grade plays in being accepted to the high school of your choice please plan to be at the Pritzker School Open-House on September 27^th at 5 p.m. At the open-house Ms. McElmurry will brief 7^th & 8^th grade students and parents on what to expect and how to navigate the high school application process.

Applications to high schools for the 2008-09 school year can be submitted from October 1^st to December 21^st, 2007. 

There are two applications required by CPS - the standard application and the selective enrollment application.  Many of the high schools also require a separate application specific to their school.  In addition, some private and charter high schools have other, more specific dates for applications.  For more specific information on the necessary application(s) and deadlines please check with the individual school, the CPS High School Directory or at this link CPS Office of High Schools and High School Programs

Parents are more than welcome to attend our in-house high school fairs.  Please keep in mind however, that these fairs are designed specifically for students to ask questions and get acquainted with the different high school choices available to them.  While our in-house high school fairs are very informational they can not cover the in depth information that is available to students and their families at the various open-houses held by the individual high schools.
